Sponsored by the Berner/Krauss Family.
A sophomore horse is any horse in its second year of competition in Limited Distance or longer events. The award goes to any horse with 300 miles of consecutive completions in limited distance or longer events without a pull. If at any time the horse fails to complete a ride, the count returns to zero. Should no horses qualify, the award would go to the sophomore horse with the best record (in miles) of completions without a pull. Horse must be owned or leased and ridden by a PNER member. Eligibility must be declared to Points Secretary by August 1st.

Horse of the Future
Posted: Wednesday 1st Feb 2017
Sponsored by Sue McLain
Award goes to horses in their first year of the sport with a minimum of 4 consecutive completions, comprised of at least 2 endurance mileage distances. The remaining 2 completions may be limited distance rides, however, if more than 2 limited distance rides are completed during the course of the horse's first ride season, only 2 will be counted toward the achievement of this award. Ride type (endurance or limited distance) may be ridden in any order. Additionally, a pull for any reason (including rider option or overtime) will disqualify the horse from eligibility for the award, regardless of the number of completions previously achieved. Horses may not have been entered in any endurance or limited distance ride previously. Horses must be owned or leased and ridden by PNER members and any number of PNER member riders is allowed. Eligibility must be declared to Points Secretary by August 1st.

Senior Rookie Horse & Rider of the Year
Posted: Wednesday 1st Feb 2017
Sponsored by Carlene & Wally Benson.
This award targets horse and rider teams who are new to the sport, neither of whom has completed more than 100 miles of endurance and/or limited distance competition and encourages completions over the long run. Our goal is to support the individual who can ride moderately, bring on a younger (or older) horse, and produce a safe and consistent performance (completion). Award goes to the horse/rider team with the most consecutive completions on PNER rides of less than 50 miles. If at any time the horse/rider team fails to complete a limited distance ride, the count returns to zero. Total mileage on limited distance rides breaks any tie. Minimum of 3 completions to qualify for the award. Eligibility must be declared to Points Secretary by August 1st.
